ProTurf Fertiliser (20-0-7+6CaO+3%MgO) PROTURF FERTILISER ICL

Description

ProTurf Fertiliser (20-0-7+6CaO+3%MgO) – High Nitrogen with controlled release.

ProTurf Fertiliser (20-0-7+6CaO+3%MgO) is a high Nitrogen, controlled release (2-3 months) fertiliser for general sports turf areas. ProTurf Fertiliser (20-0-7+6Ca+3%MgO) combines controlled-release technology with compound fertilisers.   This controlled-release technology leads to regular growth without growth peaks.

The uncoated portion of this fertiliser allows for an immediate response from the turf. ProTurf also contains Calcium for turf hardening and Magnesium for enhanced colour. ProTurf Fertiliser (20-0-7+6CaO+3%MgO) is a 1.7mm prill with a high nitrogen analysis.

(N) Nitrogen – Nitrogen is largely responsible for the growth of leaves on the plant and is the most talked-about nutrient when it comes to lawns and is usually the highest percentage of your NPK ratio.  Nitrogen usually comes in the following forms: Ammonium, Controlled release (synthetic) and Urea. Lawns love Nitrogen, but it is important to strike a balance between strong leaf growth and strong roots capable of supporting it, which is where Phosphorus comes in.

(P) Phosphorus – Phosphorus is largely responsible for root growth and is quite a low percentage of the overall NPK ratio. Phosphorus moves slowly through the soil and isn’t used in great amounts by your lawn, so some are needed but not a great amount.

(K) Potassium – Potassium is a nutrient that helps the overall functions of the plant perform correctly. Potassium is an essential macro-nutrient used in the largest quantities by plants for vigour and growth. Potassium comes in the form of Sulphate as soluble potash, which helps grass withstand drought and disease. It also helps the plant to use nitrogen more efficiently.

ProTurf Fertiliser is suitable for general sports turf areas, golf courses, parks, landscapes, and domestic turf areas, so it can be used on your lawn. It's recommended to be applied to dry foliage, and watering it post-application will give a faster initial effect. However, there is no specific requirement for how often to water outside of this, aside from what is required to keep your lawn healthy. The application should be completed after aeration.

  5. Q What setting should I use with Scotts Large Fertilizer Spreader to apply ProTurf Fertiliser?

    Answered by the admin

Unfortunately, we are unsure of the measurement increments used by the Scotts Large Fertilizer Spreader.  As the recommended use rate for ProTurf Fertiliser is 2-3.5kg per 100m2, we suggest marking out the required area (i.e. 10m x 10m), selecting a mid-low setting on the spreader and seeing if the minimum 2kg is evenly applied over this area.  Adjustments can be made accordingly if more or less product needs to be metered out.  Note, though, that the ProTurf is a fine pellet and will flow and spread quite quickly, so a low setting is suggested as the starting point.

  7. Q What is the best time of the year to use ProTurf Fertiliser and how often?

    Answered by the admin

The best time to apply ProTurf Fertiliser is when the lawn starts to actively grow, once the lawn has needed a few regular mows, with the best times being early spring (depending on location & climate).  High quality, slow-release fertilisers such as ProTurf continue to feed your lawn for 2-3 months, so reapplication is not necessary until after this time has elapsed.  Applying a good fertiliser in Autumn will also help prepare the lawn for the winter season.

  9. Q What number setting on a Scots hand spreader is recommended when applying ProTurf Fertiliser?

    Answered by the admin

To achieve the 2-3.5kg per 100m2 it is recommended to set the Scots Hand Fertiliser Spinner (out of 5) between 3 & 5.  Take into account walking speed and distance of spread that relates to spinner speed to achieve the correct kg's/100m2.

  10. If I don't water it in and wait till next rain will the nitrogen or urea burn my lawn?

    Answered by the admin

The ProTurf Fertiliser is controlled-release fertiliser.  If you don't water it in immediately and instead wait for rain, the likelihood of burning the grass is minimal due to the slow-release pellets.  Watering-in after application helps with product dispersion and gives a faster initial effect.
